Gift Gorgeously
Hello friends! It has been quite some time since we’ve last crossed paths and I am so sorry for my absence. Life has been unimaginably hectic these last six months and the chaos prompted me to take a much needed break. I needed to find ways to make time for myself in order to handle/balance all of life’s stressors. Since we last chatted, I’ve actually discovered a favorite new way to pamper myself at the end of those crazy days, and it started with my skincare routine. We all know stress can get the best of us in more ways than just the mental aspect, but physically I began to look exhausted and my happy glow was replaced with unwanted acne/blemishes. I realized I needed to pay more attention to my skin because at the end of the day healthy glowing skin is the best foundation you can ever have.
So I decided I can’t keep it to myself, I have to share some of my favorite remedies with you. And since it IS the season of giving, why not give the gift of healthy skin? Ulta Beauty is my favorite place to shop and stock up on my skincare necessities. The only bad thing about it is working less than a mile away from a store location, I find myself shopping in there far too much. It all pays off in the end when I can find everything I need to take care of myself in just one place. If you’ve never shopped at Ulta Beauty before, I highly recommend this to be your first time. This holiday season they’ve made gift giving so easy to do for the loved ones on your list with their HolidayGift Guide separating all their best picks by personality. Below are some of my must-have items from their Ageless Beauty Personality.
The Brightening Kit by Mario Badescu is perfect for starters. I have been an avid Mario Badescu user for over 2 years now and swear by his products. I use everything from his Enzyme Cleansing Gel, Cucumber Cleansing Lotion, Super Collagen Face Mask, SPF 30 face moisturizer, Vitamin C Serum, and Rosewater Facial Spray. I almost have it all. Am I crazy? No, just in love when I find something that works so perfectly for me. This kit is great to start with for yourself or to introduce to someone who’s been wanting to try something new. Best part is, all of his products are reasonably priced!
Patchology FlashPatch Eye Gels - I can’t even begin tell you how many different eye creams I have spent too much money on in attempt to deflate the puffiness in my under eyes. When I discovered these eye gels, I bid farewell to those mornings when it was evident I didn’t get a full 8-hours of sleep. I love the cooling effect of these eye gels and after applying one pair for a short 5 minutes, it leaves some serum behind to smooth right into your skin. I put these on either at night after a face mask or in the morning immediately after washing my face. I follow-up with a spritz of rosewater spray on my face rather than a cotton pad with toner after rubbing in the serum so I don’t wipe it away.
Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask - Some days when things get really chaotic, I don’t always get my full 8 glasses of water. I usually try my best to stay on top of it, but it can be hard when you’re running around with lots to accomplish. That’s when this little hydration saver comes in. I love using this gel mask at night to leave on while I’m sleeping. I keep it in the refrigerator so the cooling effect really helps calm my skin during application. It’s great for rejuvenating my skin and gives it those extra doses of moisture it may have lost that day. My favorite thing to do is wake up and poke at my cheeks to feel how soft and squishy they are after a great night of sleep with this mask on.
Clarisonic Mia 1 - The Clarisonic brush has been my best friend since it first came out years ago. I can’t travel anywhere overnight without it. I love the Refreshing Gel Cleanser that it comes with and after I run out of it I simply continue using the...

Lewk | 22nd December 2015 | Blogging

Lately, everyone seems to be having work Christmas parties and here at WebBoss it was no different. Only last week were we all sat down together about to enjoy a nice meal and some drinks as we celebrate this festive season. It was a great night out, and we even had an unexpected magician show up and do some tricks for us!
As the evening went on, there was another surprise for everyone: awards! A small "awards ceremony" had been secretly organised to present everyone with some small token of appreciation for the work they've done for WebBoss over the last year. As you can see from the image of my award (above), the reasons for each weren't totally serious!
Reflecting on all of this, and looking at how much we've grown as a company in terms of staff and business, it has made me think of all the different events and people who have brought us to this point and got WebBoss to where it is today.
WebBoss Xmas Do
A few people will know this already, but WebBoss (as it's known now) started life as a hobby project in my bedroom to make designing website layouts in HTML and CSS less tedious . This was way back in about 2008 and before it even had a name; it was just "my CMS" for lack of a better description or name. It could only create basic HTML/CSS layouts and modify page content. You can see a screenshot on the right of how WebBoss looked back in 2009 – not much to it!
Version 1 of WebBoss with limited features!
But it's been a fun, interesting and bumpy ride over the years getting to where we are today. Back then, I was coming home from my day job and then sitting down in the evening to code new features until about 2 or 3am before going to bed and doing the whole process again the next day. I didn't sleep much in the early days...
When starting to make something more solid of this as some semblance of a business, my dad and I would take a walk around town to find businesses without websites. Some of our earliest clients came from pounding the streets and literally just walking into shops, laptop and printed booklets in hand, to give on the spot demonstrations of what the system could do. Which worked surprisingly well, actually (although I'm very much glad to not have to do that anymore!).
As more people saw the software, more people got excited at the business potential and wanted to get involved. This led to some interesting and crazy times with Angel Investors, many trips to London and frauds leading us on with empty promises. Between this and getting married, unexpectedly moving countries from one side of the world to another, getting new clients, living with my parents again (with my new wife!), people not paying us on time, moving out (and some months not being able to even make rent), working multiple jobs, and attending many exhibitions; eventually the right people came along and invested time and money which got us off a slightly smoother start at last and enabled us to take on our first members of staff!
Thankfully, things have only gotten better and the potential has continued to grow. More people have recognised that which has led to better investment, and good partnerships.
Now, seven years on, three office moves and about 10 extra staff later – I think it's safe to say WebBoss is only going to continue to grow and get better with age.
So here it is: the end of another year, but we look forward to the next and all it will bring. But this is more than just looking forward to new things, this is an ode to all who have helped bring us to this point, to those in the background that keep things moving and to the wives who have stood by us even in the darkest days, keeping us going.
Thank you to everyone — staff, client or otherwise, who has been, still is, and will continue to be involved over the coming years!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :)
